Our commitment

Step by Story grows out of a way of travelling built on listening and encounter. The same principle applies to this website: we want its content and functions to be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for everyone, including people browsing with assistive technologies.

We regard accessibility as an ongoing process, not a goal reached once and for all.

Scope

This statement applies to verona.stepbystory.com in all its language versions. It does not extend to third-party websites reachable through links, over which we have no control.

Standards

The website is developed with reference to the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines, the European standard EN 301 549 and the principles of the European Accessibility Act.

What we have done

  • semantic page structure, with proper heading hierarchy, lists and landmarks;
  • full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus indicator;
  • attention to colour contrast and text legibility;
  • alternative text for informative images;
  • ARIA labels and roles where HTML alone is not enough, particularly in forms and the language switcher;
  • responsive layout, usable on any device and with zoom enabled;
  • forms with explicit labels and understandable error messages.

Compatibility

The website is designed to work with recent versions of the main browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and with the most widely used screen readers. Less common combinations of browser and assistive technology may produce different results.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts may not yet be fully accessible:

  • documents, images and materials supplied by third parties or by our partners;
  • content embedded from external services, whose accessibility depends on the provider;
  • pages still being completed, which are updated progressively.

Ongoing improvement

We review the website periodically and fix the issues that emerge, giving priority to those that prevent access to information or services. Reports from users are the most valuable source we have.
